Recently, on the Wonky Times podcast, Robert Montano shared his story about a UFO sighting in Palm Desert, California. He was riding along with his uncle when they heard a strange report on a local radio station.
Here’s his story about the UFO that shot across the sky like a horizontal shooting star and then stopped on a dime. Psssst… You can also listen to it below if you hate reading words.
MATT:
“Tell me all about it. What happened in Palm Desert, California?”
ROBERT:
“Anybody who has ever gone to Los Angeles from Phoenix you will pass through Palm Desert, California with all the windmills. They got the dinosaurs — the Cabazon dinosaurs from Pee Wee’s Big Adventure. Definitely check them out. But yeah, I went out there quite a bit because I had family living out there. And, man, this was quite an adventure. One of the most memorable nights of my life.”
MATT:
“So, what happened? You heard something on the radio, right?”
ROBERT:
“We were driving back from my grandfather’s house and he lives up kind of aways from Indo in Palm Desert because they do a lot of agriculture out in that area. We were leaving this farm area where it’s just kind of open pastures and we heard on the radio that somebody had called in, and the DJ was talking to them, and they said that outside their window… they were looking at a UFO lowering slowly. It wasn’t gone anywhere. It’s just been lowering in altitude above the area where they were. The DJ had fun with it and joked about it and said something about little green men coming out. When you see them come out, make sure you run away! We felt so cool.”
MATT:
“Were you feeling kind of nervous?”
ROBERT:
“It was that excitement. But when we heard that there’s something there, we immediately started looking out the window as we were driving. When you looked up towards the mountains, you could see there was very clearly a light in the sky that was fluctuating in colors — like sometimes when gas passes through, you can kind of see colors change — but this was a little different. This looked like the colors of the actual lights were changing and it wasn’t good.”
MATT:
“And then you said it stopped. How long?”
ROBERT:
“We pulled over and I would say about 10 minutes. I don’t remember exactly how long it was but we pulled over and we were in this dark field. We were just looking up and we saw it glowing and then it stops! Then, all of a sudden, there was a streak running across the sky horizontally — not like a falling star — and it did not lower to the ground. It just went straight across the city and stuck in place.”
MATT:
“Were there news reports the next day or anything?”
“No there wasn’t. That night, we were so full of excitement. We ended up driving home and we were ecstatic. You know, like an excitement high where you’re just buzzing with excitement and that is what happened to both my uncle and I. We screamed! I remember audibly, I can hear still hear my uncle scream when it shot across the sky and stuff.”
