Living with his girlfriend in 2009, Cummings noticed that items from the fridge and pantry were vanishing without explanation. Suspecting his girlfriend of late-night snacking, he confronted her, but she denied any involvement. Determined to get to the bottom of the mystery, Cummings installed a video camera in the kitchen.
The footage revealed a shocking discovery: a woman, unknown to Cummings, was sneaking into the apartment at night. The video shows her emerging from a storage loft, climbing down onto a table, and helping herself to food from the fridge and pantry. In one instance, she even used the kitchen sink as a toilet. Despite Cummings entering the kitchen during one of her visits, the woman managed to hide from view.
Upon viewing the footage, Cummings immediately contacted the police. Officers arrived and escorted the woman out of the apartment. They estimated she had been living in the loft for at least a couple of weeks, possibly longer. The woman had created a makeshift living space in the loft, complete with a blanket, and had no apparent means of ventilation. Cummings speculates she accessed the apartment via the fire escape, as he lived on the top floor.
Surprisingly, Cummings chose not to press charges, expressing sympathy for the woman and her apparent circumstances. This eerie incident serves as a reminder of the unexpected and sometimes unsettling situations that can arise in everyday life.
