A new Gallup poll out there that’s showcasing an upward spike in the number of people who believe that UFOs are alien, as opposed to something engineered here on Earth.

When it comes to the UFO phenomenon, it’s been a heck of a year, so to speak.

You’ve got the U.S. government’s long-awaited report that provided a measure of authenticity to the topic, leaked videos that are no way in heck fake, and an acknowledgment that there is in fact something “unexplained in the skies.”

This realization that the subject should be talked about is apparent in the Gallop poll which asked:

“Which comes closer to your view — [ some UFOs have been alien spacecraft visiting Earth from other planets or galaxies, (or) all UFO sightings can be explained by human activity on Earth or natural phenomenon]?”

Here’s a breakdown of what the Gallup poll found:

  • More Americans are taking UFOs seriously than just two years ago.
  • When asked which of two theories better explains UFO sightings, 41% of adults now believe some UFOs involve alien spacecraft from other planets, up eight points from 33% in 2019.
  • Half of Americans, down from 60% in 2019, remain skeptical, saying all UFO sightings can be explained by human activity or natural phenomena.
  • Another 9% are unwilling to venture a guess.

If you break down the poll’s discoveries a little further, it shows that 44% of men and 38% of women “believed in a possible alien interpretation.” Older age groups were less likely to believe than the younger ones.

In a political sense, the poll found that there was no noticeable difference between Democrats and Republicans in regards to overall opinions on alien spacecraft.

So, what’s the bottom line, you ask?

Well, here it is:

“With more mainstream news coverage of UFOs in recent years, and the government taking sightings more seriously, the idea that UFOs could be alien spacecraft doesn’t seem as far-fetched to Americans as it did even two years ago. Meanwhile, the government seems more focused on determining if the threat is coming from foreign governments rather than other planets, and half of Americans continue to presume there is an Earth-based explanation for all such sightings.”
