We’ve all taken trips to other cities, states, and countries, but how far south have you visited? In the words of Adam Sandler in Little Nicky, “the deep south.” Have you ever traveled to the deep south?

Well, there’s a guy who said he literally went to Hell and back and he’s all about talking about it after he safely returned after spending 23 minutes trapped in the underworld.

Bill Wiese remembers what happened back in November 1998 when he got up at 3 a.m. to get a drink. His mouth was dry so he headed toward the refrigerator, but instead of a chilly ice box full of thirst quenching liquids, he visited the middle of Earth, where he heard “millions of people screaming” in the depths of Hell.

Wowee! I’m sure, from now on, he keeps a glass of water nearby when he sleeps at night.

He describes the whole thing as an out-of-body experience, saying he was pulled from his body and travelled to Hell through a long tunnel.

“It was getting hotter and hotter and I landed on a stone floor in a prison cell in Hell,” said Wiese, talking to a Christian broadcaster TCT Network. “There were stone walls and bars. It was more like a dungeon — a filthy, stinking, smoke filled dungeon.”

“The heat was so unbearable, I wondered how could I be alive. Why am I here, how did I get here?”

Oh, but that’s not all he experienced. He said he then saw two “enormous demons” in the cell, saying they were pacing around it. The creatures, who had a “ferocious demeanor,” were “blaspheming,” according to Wiese.

“And then they directed this hatred they had towards God towards me. One demon picked me up and threw me into the wall of this prison cell. I felt as if bones had broken. Now I know a spirit doesn’t have bones, but it felt that way. I wondered why am I still alive through this. The other demon dug its claws into my chest and just tore the flesh open. This is actually happening.”

He said the prison cell then was lit up, with what he believed to be God’s presence there, before it was plunged into darkness again. Then, just when he thought it couldn’t get any worse, he was taken out of his prison cell and put next to a random pit of fire.

This random pit of fire is where he could see other people. Wiese said he saw “thousands of people in this pit, screaming and burning,” adding that they looked like skeletons.

He said there were several degrees of punishment going on down there — in Hell, that is — and he was kept in isolation, adding that “the stench in Hell is the most foul, putrid disgusting odor.”

You can watch the entire interview in the video below:

In the end, Wiese journeyed back to Earth safely after 23 minutes of a literal Hell, and ended up writing a book called 23 Minutes In Hell. The dang book went on to sell more than a million copies.

So, what’s your take on this bogus journey?
