Annual Canadian UFO Survey Finds Significant Increase in Sightings for 2020.
A very in-depth and rigorous examination of UFO sightings in Canada found that 2020 was a busy year for unidentified flying objects. In other words, there was so much traffic up in the sky that it’s a 46% increase from previous reports.
The project, known as the 2020 Canadian UFO Survey, found that there were an astonishing 1,243 UFO sightings across Canada. This makes it the second busiest year in the history of the survey, which has been collecting data since 1989.
It was a strange year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, and that’s partially to blame for the increase in UFO reports being that more people had a little extra time on their hands.
The report states that UFO sightings “surged significantly” in the first quarter of 2020 and then again in the spring as many people were hanging out inside their homes.
Here are some other interesting tidbits from the report:
- 60% of the sightings were “simple lights in the sky”
- A smaller chunk claimed that they saw “triangles, spheres, and boomerangs”
- Approximately 13% of the sightings could be classified as unexplained
- The reports came from a variety of job titles including pilots, police officers, and “other individuals with reasonably good observing capabilities and good judgement”
Additionally, the report suggests that “speculation on what aliens may or may not be doing in our airspace seems almost completely unconnected to the question of what is actually being reported as UFOs.”
